TOWNSEND -- The Kids Kountry Playground, the Friends of the Townsend Library and the North Middlesex Regional High School Giving Tree will each have concessions at the Townsend Military Band’s on Thursday, July 19, concert on the Townsend Common.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, cold soda and bottled water will be sold from 7 to 9 p.m., to benefit the Kids Kountry Playground. Money raised will be used to purchase new equipment and to refurbish existing structures at the Kids Kountry Playground, which is located behind the Spaulding Memorial Elementary School at the corner of Eastman Street and Turnpike Road in Townsend.
The Friends of the Townsend Library will offer a variety of homemade baked goods and popcorn to those at the concert to benefit library activities.
Children attending the concert will be able to play in a bounce house and win prizes while playing several games set up on the common that evening by the NMRHS Giving Tree.
The Townsend Military Band, under the direction of Thomas Souza, will open its concert at 7:30 by playing the “Colonel Bogey March” by Alford, and Yoder’s arrangement of “Highlights from Camelot.” Anderson’s “Blue Tango,” “Bugler’s Holiday” by Anderson, and “John Williams: Symphonic Marches” arranged by Higgins and orchestrated by Lavender will be performed. “The Wizard of Oz” arranged by Barnes and the “Pasadena Day March” arranged by Mondrone will be played during the first portion of the concert.
Rundel’s arrangement of “Hoch Heidecksburg” and “Cherish” arranged by de Camp will be played following intermission. The “La Gazza Ladra Overture” arranged by Meyrelles, Burden’s arrangement of the “Sounds of Simon and Garfunkel,” and Hall’s “American Cadet March” will be performed before the Townsend band concludes its concert at 9:30 p.m., by playing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
