Trial begins in Kalispell stabbing death
KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — A trial is underway in Kalispell for a man charged with fatally stabbing his boyfriend while they were having sex.
Attorneys for 34-year-old Ryan Lamb said he was acting in self-defense last August when he stabbed 31-year-old Ryan Nixon with a pair of scissors. The defense argued Nixon had stabbed Lamb 16 times with a fork.
Deputy Flathead County Attorney Alison Howard said Monday that Lamb and Nixon had dated for three years, had a troubled relationship and that Lamb had hurt Nixon in the past.
Howard said Lamb offered varying explanations for what happened to Nixon before finally confessing.
Defense attorney Alisha Backus said the confession was coerced after an 11-hour interrogation.
The Flathead Beacon reports the trial is expected to last about two weeks.
