Henderson police receives grant to crack down on illegal pot
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Drug Enforcement Administration has awarded the Henderson police department more than $11,000 to support its efforts against illegal marijuana.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the Henderson city council unanimously approved the $11,500 grant for overtime reimbursement on Tuesday.
Henderson police spokesman Rod Pena says the department’s narcotics unit wants to crack down on illegal grows.
The grant will be used to target illegal dispensaries, residential operations, marijuana grows and the distribution of illegal products containing THC, such as edibles or wax products.
Pena says the grant will allow Henderson officers to investigate, make arrests and assist with the prosecution of cases.
The department must use the grant money by Sept. 30.
