SOJA, Japan (AP) _ Kumiko Hiyoshi shot a 1-over 73 Sunday, good enough to hold off Michiko Hattori and win the Hisako Higuchi Kibun Ladies by one stroke.

Hiyoshi, after starting the round with a two-stroke lead, finished with a 5-under 211 total. Hattori, last season's leading money winner, had a 72 for 212.

Hiyoshi's victory, her first since winning the 1994 Japan LPGA Championship and fifth overall, was worth $118,800 from a purse of $660,000.
