Special weather statement issued by National Weather Service
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Northeast Indiana and Ohio.
Wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph are possible today and into early evening, the service said.
Areas affected by the winds include Allen, DeKalb, Elkhart, Huntington, Kosciusko, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley. In Ohio areas include Defiance, Henry, Paulding and Van Wert.
Cities in the coverage area include Albion, Angola, Auburn, Columbia City, Fremont, Fort Wayne, Goshen, Huntington, Kendallville, New Haven, North Manchester, South Whitley, Syracuse, Tri-Lakes, Wabash, Warsaw, Winona Lake, and in Ohio cities of Antwerp, Defiance, Hicksville, Lima, Paulding, Spencerville and Van Wert.
The gusty winds may make driving difficult for high profile vehicles.
Winds are expected to die down later this evening, it said, with gusty winds up to 40 mph possible on Tuesday.
