Mount Vernon City Council seeking to fill Lindquist’s seat
The Mount Vernon City Council is seeking to fill the seat of Councilman Joe Lindquist, who announced his resignation Wednesday after being elected to the Skagit Public Utility District board.
Lindquist, who has served on the council since he was appointed in 2005, will leave his seat Dec. 31.
He said before the Nov. 6 election that he planned to resign his council seat if he won the Skagit PUD race.
The city is accepting applications to appoint someone to fill the remaining year of Lindquist’s term.
Applicants must be registered voters in Mount Vernon, have lived in the city for at least a year and currently be a resident of Ward 1, which includes the north and west parts of the city. The deadline to apply is Dec. 12.
The application is available on the city’s website, under the ”News and Announcements” section.
