WRESTLING: WWE Live featuring Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, John Cena and Finn Baylor against Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler and Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Charleston Coliseum. Tickets are $15, $35, $55, $75 and $105.

SPEAKER: The Rev. Benjamin Wells was guest speaker Dec. 30 at Milton United Methodist Church as he shared a message about the ministry and mission of the United Methodist Campus Ministry at Marshall University. He and wife, Tobin, have a 1-year-old daughter.

EXHIBIT: “Picturing the Grand Tour: Watercolor Sketches by An Anonymous Painter-Traveler,” exhibit featuring works from the 19th century continues through Feb. 24 at Huntington Museum of Art. Through a generous gift of Drs. Joseph and Omayma Touma, the museum has a collection of 20 watercolor sketches depicting a number of points of interest along the popular tourist routes in the Near East, including areas of Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria.

LIST: Lynsey Isner, of Barboursville, marine science major at Coastal Carolina University, was recently named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2018 semester. To become eligible, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

CLUB: Cicada Books and Coffee kicks off its store book club at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at 604 14th St. W. The theme is “Tasty Reads,” selection of food-themed books of various genres. Dawn Norman, owner, and Dawn Nolan, barista and local food writer, are leaders. Candace Nelson, author of “The West Virginia Pepperoni Roll,” is featured at the inaugural meeting. Copies of her book may be purchased.

BETTER: It seems only recently that birthday wishes were being sent to one of the sweetest and most beautiful earthly angels of all time - Vera Mae Fox of South Point, Ohio. This first cousin of my mother blows out birthday candles Saturday, Jan. 5. Here’s praying her health has improved over the past few weeks so she can enjoy her day and that she is blessed with fond memories, happiness and whatever else makes her smile brighter for many years to come.

TOUR: Heather Land “I Ain’t Doin’ It Tour” begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Ashland’s Paramount Arts Center. Tickets range from $29 to $99.

FRIEND: Psst Shirley Compton, longtime friend, neighbor and hairdresser for 30-plus years, blows out birthday candles Saturday, Jan. 5. This mother and grandmother has never changed in the more than 25 years that I have known her. May her day be as super and special as she is.

FIRST: Jeff Maddox was recently sworn in as commissioner for Wayne County, replacing David Pennington, who vacated the office Dec. 31. Jeff’s new role began Jan. 1 and his first Wayne County Commission meeting was Jan. 3. Best wishes for a successful term, good buddy.

CHUCKLE: When Caroline arrived at work on Tuesday, she told her co-workers about her trip home from work on Monday. “I was in my car driving home when a police officer pulled me over and knocked on my window.” One of the co-workers asked, “Did you get alarmed?” Caroline answered, “No, I told him, ‘One minute I’m on the phone’.”
