COAL-BED METHANE ROADS

CASPER — The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is studying what to do with 600 miles (960 kilometers) of roads that once served the Power River Basin's coal-bed methane industry. The Casper Star-Tribune reports the agency wants to leave some roads open — to provide access to public lands in a region that was an epicenter of coal-bed methane production in the 2000s. POWELL-FERRET RELEASE — Biologists plan another release of black-footed ferrets in Wyoming's Park County. The animals were thought to be extinct until a tiny colony was discovered in 1981 near the small northwestern town of Meeteetse.

GRAND TETON-JUNE VISITS DOWN — The number of visitors to Grand Teton National Park in June was down 10 percent from the same month just last year — a brief swoon in a season that's seen brisk visitor numbers.

FRONTIER DAYS-NEW BUILDING — Cheyenne Frontier Days plans to break ground on a new building after this year's July 20-29 event.
