January 16, 2019

A Jerome man was injured in a commercial vehicle accident that closed Route 30 in Stonycreek Township for several hours Monday morning.

Kevin J. Phenicie, 61, was driving east in a Peterbilt truck tractor at 6:19 a.m. when the truck left the roadway west of Shade Creek Road, according to state police.

The truck struck a utility pole and continued east.

It traveled back onto the roadway and overturned onto its passenger side, coming to rest across both lanes of Route 30, also known as Lincoln Highway.

Phenicie was transported by Somerset ambulance to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown for injuries of “unknown severity,” according to police.

His condition was not available from the hospital Tuesday night.

The accident closed the roadway for most of the morning.

The Central City and Shanksville fire departments, and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation were also dispatched, according to Somerset County Control.
