Garth Brooks at Spring Training
PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) _ How it went for Garth Brooks on Friday at spring training for the San Diego Padres:
COUNTRY CAMPER: The overflow crowds that jammed the early Padres workouts to see the country singer were missing. With the Seattle Mariners playing the Arizona Diamondbacks before a sellout crowd at Peoria Stadium, just 200 yards from where Brooks was working out, he went virtually unnoticed.
HIGH NOTE: In his second day back in camp after tending to his ill mother, Brooks took batting practice, hitting several balls hard, shagged balls in the field, then boarded the bus for a night game with the Chicago Cubs in Mesa.
ON THE RECORD: ``I’m enjoying this so much, they’re going to have to throw me out of here,″ Brooks said. ``I’ve ridden a lot of buses in my life, but riding with ballplayers instead of musicians should be an entirely different experience.″
