Argentina makes 5 changes for Australia test
PERTH, Australia (AP) — Argentina has named a new-look backline for Saturday’s Rugby Championship match against Australia, with scrumhalf Tomas Cubelli making his first start of the tournament in place of Martin Landajo.
Felipe Contepomi and Gonzalo Tiesi have been promoted to starting roles in the midfield and winger Juan Imhoff replaces the injured Gonzalo Camacho, who has a dislocated shoulder.
The forward pack that performed well in Argentina’s 28-13 loss to New Zealand last weekend in Hamilton has been mostly untouched, with the only change the promotion of hooker Agustin Creevy in place of Eusebio Guinazu.
Argentina has not beaten the Wallabies since an 18-16 win in Buenos Aires in 1997. The Pumas’ sole victory in Australia came in 1983, an 18-3 win over the Wallabies in Brisbane.
Last-place Australia and Argentina are both winless in three starts in the championship. The Wallabies will name their team on Wednesday.
