Nevada man sentenced for role in cross-country marijuana trafficking
A Las Vegas man will spend close to six years in federal prison for his role in a marijuana trafficking scheme that distributed cannabis from the West Coast to local college campuses.
According to U.S. Attorney Scott Brady, from 2012 through 2017, Ryan Schanck, 30, and others arranged for marijuana to be supplied from the West Coast and mailed to the Pittsburgh area. He said Schanck and his co-conspirators then distributed the marijuana in Western Pennsylvania, primarily on college campuses, such as Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Brady said Schanck conspired to distribute from 700 to 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and launder $258,404 in proceeds from marijuana trafficking during the operation.
