Salvation Army in need of more Red Kettle Campaign donations

December 22, 2018

NORFOLK - The Norfolk-Area Salvation Army is at about 70% of its overall Red Kettle Campaign goal of $56,339 with less than one week to go.

Corps Officer, Captain Jesus Trejo is asking those who haven’t donated or those who want to donate more money to do so before it ends next Monday.

Captain Trejo says the campaign is very important as it makes up a good portion of their operating budget.

“The money is used throughout the year to provide basic needs for those struggling in Norfolk. We have food programs to provide families with food, we have rental and financial assistance programs, and in addition to that we are currently wrapping up our Christmas toy assistance program where we will give 300 children new toys.”

Captain Trejo says the Salvation Army also needs more volunteers to ring bells at the dozens of red kettles it has deployed around the area.

To sign up to ring bells call the Corps office at (402) 379-4663.
