WVC LACROSSE ROUNDUP: Rusyn’s 16 Saves Key In Warriors Win

At Wyoming Area, Riley Rusyn made 16 saves, each of which proved critical as Wyoming Area held off North Pocono, 11-8, on Friday in WVC boys lacrosse.

Dominic DeLuca led all players with five goals and had nine points total F.J. Braccini added a hat trick.

Jason Parola and Jack Roche combined for seven goals for North Pocono.

At Dallas, the Mountaineers put up 10 goals in the first quarter as they cruised to victory over the Comets.

Nick Solinsky finished the night with eight points, and even distribution between four goals and four assists.

TJ Herron and Hunter Landon each chipped in hat tricks.

At Tunkhannock, Sergey Montross scored a pair of goals for the Tigers, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Cavaliers. Trae Cole had a goal and an assist for Tunkhannock. Jaxon Montross and Izaiah Simon also had goals.

Girls Lacrosse

After dropping its first two games of the season, Wyoming Seminary hasn’t looked back.

The Blue Knights won their 12th straight game on Friday, 15-1 at Hazleton Area, keeping hold of their top spot in the District 2 Class 2A power ratings.

Mya Pyke and Ashley Metz each netted hat tricks to lead Sem (12-2, 10-0 WVC) on a night where eight different players scored.

Mia Raineri made five saves in goal.

Olivia Wills picked up Hazleton Area’s lone goal. Abby Bellas made seven saves for the Cougars.
