Omaha will enjoy temps in the 40s and 50s this week, and maybe beyond
Warmer-than-average weather is likely this week — and could persist for two weeks.
The National Weather Service is forecasting mostly sunny skies and highs in the 40s and 50s this week, though Wednesday could see high temperatures drop into the 30s.
The nation’s long-range forecasting office, the U.S. Climate Prediction Center, says the odds favor warmer-than-normal weather for most of the U.S. through Jan. 20, with the core of the warmth centered over Nebraska and Iowa.
The high recorded at Eppley Airfield on Saturday was 56.
That’s 23 degrees above the average — 33 degrees — for this time of year.
Sunday’s high was 52, and the low was 34 — a tick above the average high.
The average low in early January is about 14 degrees.
