Girls Tennis | Mayo gets 4 titles in Big Nine tourney

Big Nine Conference regular-season team champion Mayo collected four titles in the conference individual girls tennis tournament on Saturday at the Rochester Outdoor Tennis Center.

Mayo had champions at No. 4 singles (Sutton Julsrud), No. 1 doubles (Deeya Patel and Taylor Julsrud), No. 2 doubles (Ellen Barancyzk and Grace Ackerman) and No. 3 doubles (Constance Chen and Taylor Hill).

Mayo also had a runner-up finish from Emma Trncic at No. 1 singles. Trncic lost 5-7, 6-2 (10-6) in the finals to Owatonna’s Emily Rahrick.

John Marshall had its strongest indivual tournament in years. The Rockets got a championship from Ancele Dolensek at No. 2 singles and also a runner-up finish from Alexis Locati and Cameron Larson at No. 2 doubles.

Century, which finished second as a team in the Big Nine regular season, got a secodn place Saturday from Nina Rehfeldt at No. 3 singles and a second place from the Carley Madson and Victoria Suk at No. 1 doubles.

Nina Rehfeldt (Century) 6-3, 6-2. No. 4: Sutton Julsrud (Mayo) def. Liv Herzog (Owatonna) 6-2, 2-6, (11-9).



No. 1: Deeya Patel/Taylor Julsrud (Mayo) def. Carley Madson/Victoria Suk (Century) 6-0, 2-6, 10-6. No. 2: Ellen Barancyzk/Grace Ackerman (Mayo) def. Alexis Locati/Cameron Larson (John Marshall) 6-1, 6-1. No. 3: Constance Chen/Taylor Hill (Mayo) def. Jade Hanson/Selena Ong (Owatonna) 6-0, 6-2.
