Boys and girls tennis each earn 9-0 wins over Barry Goldwater
The Lake Havasu boys and girls tennis teams each earned 9-0 wins over Barry Goldwater on Wednesday.
Jeremy Wojcicki, head coach for the boys’ team said he liked the swing techniques he saw during the matches. However, he did note some improvements the Knights could make.”
“I would like to see us move around the court a little better next time. It’s early in the season, so we have time to fix that.”
The boy’s team was led by Hayden Bekkedahl, who earned a win in singles (6-1, 6-0) and doubles (8-2) with his partner Trent Dreisbach.
The head coach for the girls’ team, Greg Brueckner was also pleased with the effort he saw today but did point out an area he would like to see his team grow in.
“I saw a few areas where we can be mentally stronger,” said Brueckner. “But, I thought they played well today.”
The girls’ team was led by Tatum Liska, a senior and four-year letter winner. She did not drop a set on the afternoon winning 6-0 in singles and 8-0 in doubles. Her doubles partner was Athena Ganas.
Even with the matches being played with gusty winds and cold temperatures, neither coach admitted it was much of a factor for either side.
With today’s matchup on the road against Prescott postponed to due to inclement weather, the two teams will take on Higley on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at noon in their next match.
