Montana 43, Cal Poly-SLO 0

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) _ Brian Ah Yat threw four first-quarter touchdown passes as Montana extended its home winning streak to 19 games with a 43-0 victory over Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.

Second-ranked Montana, the defending Division I-AA national champions, improved to 2-0. Cal Poly-SLO, an independent I-AA team, fell to 0-2.

The Grizzlies opened the scoring in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Ah Yat to Mike Erhardt with 7:09 remaining in the first quarter. Less than two minutes later, Ah Yat hooked up with Raul Pacheco on a 47-yard pass play to make it 14-0.

Montana added two more touchdowns in the last 44 seconds of the opening period, on Ah Yat passes of 9 yards to Josh Branen and 30 yards to Pacheco.

The score remained 28-0 until freshman Travis Walker ran a punt back 53 yards for a touchdown with 11:51 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Nate Sanders capped the scoring on a 20-yard touchdown run with 59 seconds left on the clock.

Ah Yat, making his second start, finished with 271 yards passing, but was intercepted three times in the second half by Mustangs safety Kiko Griffin.

Pacheco led the Grizzlies with six catches for 153 yards while Kamil Loud led the Mustangs with 7 catches for 130 yards.
