NEW YORK (AP) _ Jockeys Jean-Luc Samyn and Janice Blake were suspended on Saturday for careless riding at Aqueduct.
Samyn was suspended by the stewards for a week and Blake for 10 days. Blake appealed the ruling.
Samyn was cited for his ride Thursday aboard Salty Countessa, who finished first in the sixth race. The horse was disqualified and placed third.
His suspension will run from Sunday through Jan. 13.
Blake was disciplined for her ride in the second race Thursday in which Heroiss came in fifth. The horse’s place did not change in the order of finish.
The suspension was to have run from Saturday through Jan. 15 but has been stayed pending appeal.
