NEWCASTLE, Australia (AP) — Perth beat Newcastle 2-0 Monday for a second successive win after a mid-season slump to move level with the Melbourne Victory at the top of Australian football's A-League.

Andy Keogh scored in the 50th minute and Nebojsa Marinkovic in the 84th as Perth posted its 12th win of the season to join the Victory on 44 points, although Melbourne has a vastly superior goal difference.

Monday's win in Newcastle extended Perth's unbeaten record against the Jets to 11 games, comprising nine wins and two draws. Newcastle has only one win from 11 homes games this season.

Keogh headed the opening goal from Jamie Maclaren's cross and Marinkovic made the game safe with a late strike which went in after hitting both posts.
