Downtown Aiken will celebrate the holidays with Ugly Sweater Crawl, silent disco

November 24, 2018

’Tis the season to break out those festive holiday sweaters, and downtown Aiken will be celebrating the tackiest time of year with a variety of ugly Christmas sweater themed events in December.

The Alley Downtown Taproom will host an Ugly Sweater Silent Disco on Dec. 15 from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Tickets can be purchased at thealleydowntowntaproom.com, and people who show up in ugly holiday sweaters will get a discount on all drinks.

The family-friendly version of the event, Family Tacky Holiday Silent Disco, will take place Dec. 16 from 2 to 4 p.m., and tickets can be purchased at the same website.

A silent disco is a dancing event where music is transmitted through wireless headphones instead of speakers. Everyone can listen to whatever music they want.

Businesses in downtown Aiken will also be participating in an Ugly Sweater Crawl on Dec. 15.

During the event, people wearing festive holiday sweaters can receive candy and/or discounts in some stores, according to Aiken Downtown Development Association Executive Director Haley Knight.

Some stores will also be selling holiday sweaters during the event.
