Twin Commits Suicide at Same Place Her Sister Died
NORWICH, Conn. (AP) _ A 22-year-old woman committed suicide by driving her car into the Thames River from a downtown park, almost four years after her twin sister killed herself in the same way in the same place.
Michelle A. McDonald drowned Monday, according to Dr. Said Esfahanian, an assistant state medical examiner.
Her body was not found until about six hours later, police said. City and federal emergency rescue crews, including eight divers, combed the river.
Ms. McDonald’s twin sister, Melissa McDonald, then 19, drove her car into the river near the spot on July 29, 1986. Police ruled that death a suicide.
Michelle McDonald was obsessed with suicide and always said that when she died she would die as her sister did, according to Deborah Labrie, her roommate.
″I know it preyed on Michelle’s mind all of the time,″ Ms. Labrie said.
