Bill and Jamie Larsen celebrate 50th anniversary

January 24, 2019

Much love and adoration to Bill and Jamie (Staples) Larsen, as they are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Both Bill and Jamie are originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. They first met in April 1966, as students attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. It was love at first sight. They dated a few months before Bill left to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England States. When he returned, they were happy to continue their courtship. On January 24th, 1969 they began their journey together as husband and wife, when they were married and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.

The couple moved to Chicago, Illinois, where Bill attended Dental School and later graduated in 1975 from Northwestern University. After graduation, they first moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, where Bill served in the Army as a practicing dentist. Then they moved their little family to Pocatello, Idaho, where Bill started a successful dental practice, and it grew for over 40 years. Dr. Larsen also had a dental practice in Grace, Idaho, where he enjoyed serving for many of those same years.

For 10 years their family lived in the Tyhee area. In 1988, they moved to McCammon, Idaho, where Bill and Jamie still reside. Here they enjoyed many activities such as horseback riding, hunting, and snowmobiling as a family. They also made many memories together at their small cabin in Island Park.

Bill and Jamie have served in the community in many capacities. Bill served for 26 years as a Scout Master and Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. He was awarded the Silver Beaver award for his many years of service in the BSA.

Jamie served in the PTA and also on the Soccer Board in Marsh Valley while her boys were in High School. She was instrumental in getting the Soccer Program recognized and initiated for Marsh Valley High and Middle Schools.

Bill and Jamie have been very dedicated to various church callings throughout the years. Both served in the Youth Programs. Bill has served in the Bishopric, and Jamie has served many years as a Family History Consultant.

Bill and Jamie are the parents of 5 children – Jennifer (Scott), Darren (Tiffany), Bryce (Dawnielle), Travis (Shalae), and Josh (Angelene) – and 22 grandchildren. Their cabin in Island Park continues to be the Larsens’ favorite gathering place, where Bill and Jamie love spending time with their grandkids.

Presently, Bill and Jamie are enjoying their retirement. They spend many warm days in sunny St. George, Utah. They also enjoy traveling together to their favorite places on the Oregon Coast. But what they love most is spending time with their children and grandchildren, and watching them participate in their various activities.

The Larsen family will celebrate Bill and Jamie’s 50th anniversary at a private event this month.

Congratulations! We love you Mom and Dad! Thank you! We are eternally blessed because of your many years of love and dedication.
