Herd women’s soccer kicks off 2018-19 with exhibition loss

HUNTINGTON — The 2018-19 sports season for Marshall athletics kicked off at the Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

Marshall’s women’s soccer team took the field for an exhibition match against I-64 rival Morehead State under the lights at Hoops Family Field. Morehead State proved to be too much for the Herd, earning a 5-0 decision.

Marshall’s women’s soccer team will have one last exhibition match when the team travels to Youngstown State at 6 p.m. Monday. Marshall’s regular season gets underway with road matches at Fairleigh-Dickinson University and Army. The Herd’s home opener is Aug. 24 against UT-Martin.
