Danbury police offer citizen’s academy
DANBURY — The police department will offer an 11-week Citizen Police Academy for those who live, work or own business in Danbury residents, workers or business owners beginning Tuesday, March 12.
The program is designed to educate community members about police department operations and procedures, as well as foster enhanced understanding and cooperation between police and the community.
Participants will learn about various aspects of police work, ranging from laws of arrest and patrol procedures to crime scene investigation and defensive tactics. They’ll also get to role-play, learn about basic police department tasks, and have hands-on experience with tools of the police trade.
The academy will meet every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 9:30 until May 21, and requires a commitment of one night per week.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and either live, work or own a business in Danbury. There is no participation fee.
