Russian Ship Capsizes; 10 Missing
INKUM, Turkey (AP) _ Turkish navy vessels searched the rocky shoreline of the Black Sea Sunday for 10 people who reportedly escaped a capsized cruise ship aboard lifeboats.
The Anatolia news agency said one person was rescued after the Russian-flagged ship overturned in stormy seas Saturday night and the others aboard, four passengers and six crew members, were missing.
Maritime official Ilker Is said those aboard escaped on lifeboats and reportedly sought shelter in the rocks off this coastal town.
Earlier Saturday, the craft had anchored off Inkum because of engine and water pump problems, said Muhammet Aytekin, another maritime official.
He said the ship was urged to take refuge in the harbor, but contact with it was lost in the storm, which had winds of 43 mph.
Anatolia said the Moldova, a ship used by a Turkish travel agency, had been traveling to Istanbul, 200 miles west.
