WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 8½ to 20 years in prison for his role in last year's shooting death of a woman authorities said was an innocent bystander.

Nineteen-year-old Jamaal Greene pleaded guilty in May in Washington County in the May 2016 shooting death of 19-year-old Alexis Barnett in Washington, Pennsylvania, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) southwest of Pittsburgh.

Authorities said Greene had dropped off 19-year-old Tavian Hooper, and they allege that Hooper then shot Barnett by mistake as he tried to shoot another man with whom he was feuding. Another woman was injured.

Hooper is awaiting trial in the case. His attorney has argued that someone else could have committed the homicide.
