Cabell 911 warns of landline outages
Cabell County 911 is asking people to use their cellphones in case of an emergency after a reported landline outage on Sunday.
Telephone landlines were reported out at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a post on the Cabell County 911 Facebook page.
Frontier Communications was reporting a 70 percent landline phone outage for customers in West Virginia, which included Huntington. Just before 7 p.m., the company estimated an approximate five-hour time frame to restore the service, according to a representative.
Xfinity, a subsidiary of Comcast Communications, was also reporting landline phone outages in Huntington, according to the company’s outage map. It was unclear when service would be restored.
Verizon Wireless, which provides a home and business phone service called Fios, reported outages early Sunday, but did not include a timetable for restoration, a representative said.
