Hurricane girls blank Woodrow Wilson 4-0

BECKLEY — Bailey Fisher and Sydney Wheeler scored two goals apiece as Hurricane (8-0-2) defeated Woodrow Wilson 4-0 Thursday night in girls high school soccer.

Olivia Bird made one save in posting the shutout.

Fisher scored the first two goals, one on a penalty kick, the other off a pass from Braelynn Pritt. Wheeler scored off assists from Pritt and Brooke Lucas.

GALLIA ACADEMY 7, PIKETON 1: Preslee Reed’s four-goal performance led the Blue Angels (7-1) to a triumph over the Red Streaks. Krysten Sanders scored twice and Koren Truance once for Gallia Academy. Ally Crothers scored for Piketon.

SISSONVILLE 11, POCA 1: Amelia Compston, Alleigh Jordan and Anna Gregor scored three goals apiece as the Indians clobbered the Dots. Delaney White and Adrian Casto also scored for Sissonville. Kelsey Daughtery had three assists and Compston two.


BOYD COUNTY 5, ASHLAND 0: Oliver Skaug scored twice on headers to help the Lions clinch a 16th Region tournament berth. Skaug made Boyd County’s first and second goals before Luke Ellis scored to make it 3-0. Rylan Keelin and Kyle Holt added second-half goals to set the score.

GALLIA ACADEMY 9, PORTS-MOUTH 0: Brody Wilt scored three goals and Emmanuel Valadez two as the Blue Devils (4-1) routed the Trojans in Centenary, Ohio. Justin Day, Dalton Vanco, Tristan Polsley and Pedro Herrera also scored.

IRONTON ST. JOE 4, LUCASVILLE VALLEY 1: Isaac Whaley, Zach Roach, J.C. Damron and Jackson Rowe scored for the Flyers (5-1-1) in a victory over the Indians. Whaley also had two assists. Ironton St. Joe goalkeeper Jimmy Mahlmeister made 14 saves.

SOUTH POINT 6, NEW BOSTON 1: Marquise Yancey scored two goals and assisted on another as the Pointers beat the Tigers. Tyler Lilly, Drew Smith, Luke Tyree and Osiris Kessinger also scored for South Point. Malachi Potts made New Boston’s goal.

CROSS LANES CHRISTIAN 3, PIKEVIEW 1: Austin Guthrie scored twice and Caleb Carter once to lead CLC to a victory.
