Customer tries to use counterfeit bill
A man tried to use a counterfeit bill at the Dollar General along East Main Street in Somerset Borough.
The store’s manager reported that a man entered the store while she was working Saturday morning and attempted to purchase a pack of chewing gum using a counterfeit $100 bill. She told police that the bill lacked a watermark and had other features of bogus money. Ultimately, no transaction was made, and the male left the store with the bill, according to borough police.
The man was black and approximately 6 feet 5 inches tall. He was wearing gray pants, a blue hoodie and white tennis shoes.
Police probe criminal mischief
Someone tampered with the ignition on Allan Sterner’s vehicle between 9 and 11 p.m. Thursday in front of the Somerset American Legion, according to Somerset Borough police. Sterner resides in Somerset. The investigation is ongoing.
