Michael Hankins: Groaning about Groat’s comments
Editor: Recently on a public Facebook post, City Councilman Gordon Groat made the following statement:
“I’m glad to see the many new faces in the 116th... slowly but surely, Congress is starting to look more like the real America with more women & people from all kinds of backgrounds.”
I agree with him somewhat. There are some decent, new-public-servants both Democrat and Republican recently taking office.
Strangely enough, underneath Mr. Groat’s statement he had a photo of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. It was attached to an article in The Washington Post, saying Republicans were trying to smear the woman by releasing photos of her dancing in college. Of course the article would claim such. The writer of it, Colby Itkowitz, is a well-known liberal. She openly admits to taking a Democratic slant. To me, freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is nothing more than a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Newbie Rep. Rashida Tlaib is the same. I’d also like to know why Mr. Groat believes Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib coming to Washington is a good thing? I see it on the same level as arsenic being dumped into America’s drinking water. I hope Councilman Groat comes through with answers. I’m sure he will. He’s never been one to hold back on an opinion.
