Russian Nationalist Slain in Belarus

MINSK, Belarus (AP) _ The leader of an ultranationalist Russian group was stabbed to death and the director of a glass factory was shot and killed, police said Saturday.

The body of Gleb Samoilov, leader of the Russian National Unity organization, was found Saturday in a corridor of his apartment house, Sergei Kolbasov, chief of the city’s homicide department, told the Interfax news agency.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Samoilov left his apartment early Saturday after receiving a telephone call. His body was found a short while later by neighbors, Kolbasov said.

In the city of Gomel, glass factory director Vladimir Zapolsky was killed Friday, police said. According to Interfax, he was shot three times in the head. His body was also found in the hallway of his apartment house, the news agency said.
