Dominant Effort for Gr. Lowell in a Win Over Lynn

TYNGSBORO -- The Greater Lowell Tech Gryphons won all phases of the football game Saturday as they dominated visiting Lynn Tech, 34-8.

The Gryphons (4-1) immediately went on a 12-play drive for 55 yards and Dylan Bishop ran it in on a 4-yard plunge to take a 6-0 lead with 6:33 left on the clock.

On the kickoff GL’s Dennis Bourassa recovered a loose ball at the Lynn Tech 35 yard line. It took three plays before Jeremy Gray hooked with Bishop for a 35-yard TD pass.

This gave the Gryphons a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Greater Lowell’s defense rose up and recovered a Lynn Tech fumble at the 6 yard line of the Tigers. The Lynn defense held tight and did not let the Gryphon offense penetrate the goal line, making them turn over the ball at their one.

Greater Lowell’s defense did not want to be outshined by the visiting team and managed a safety in the end zone when they tackled the ballcarrier behind the line.

Before the end of the half GL Tech marched downfield starting at the 50-yard line and ultimately punched it across on a Benji Hach 13-yard run, the eighth play of the drive.

The Gryphons were not done scoring for the half. Greater Lowell’s Develle Smith outraced many Tigers defender when he scooped a fumble and ran it to the house for 27 yards. The score at halftime was Greater Lowell 28, Lynn Tech 0.

In the third quarter, Both offenses mounted drives but were unable to cross the goal line.

Lynn Tech finally scored in the fourth quarter on a pass from David Barrios to Rartha Thach. Then, on the final play of the game, GL’s Dawson Bedard managed to intercept a pass and take it 28 yards for a pick-6 with no time showing on the clock.

Greater Lowell Tech next plays at Nashoba Tech on Friday night.
