Goodhue 4-H team is 2nd in dairy judging
MADISON, Wis. — The Goodhue County 4-H dairy judging team placed second at the 2018 World Dairy Expo judging contest, missing first place by just a single point.
Team members are Jay Dicke of Goodhue, Kjersten Veiseth of Goodhue, Madelyn Wehe of Faribault, and Owen Scheffler of Kenyon-Wanamingo. Coaches are Tony and Maizie Scheffler, Emily Pieper and Haley Leiding
As a team, they placed sixth in reasons, first in Brown Swiss, and third in Guernsey.
Individually, Scheffler placed third in Ayrshire; Wehe placed second in Brown Swiss; Veiseth placed fifth in Guernsey, fifth in placings, and fourth overall individually; and Dicke placed second in Guernsey, third in placings, 10th in reasons and third overall individually.
A total of 91 individuals from 24 teams judged 10 classes and gave five sets of reasons during the competition.
