Pasadena holiday events around the corner
The rush of holiday events and activities in Pasadena is almost here.
Entities including the city of Pasadena, the Pasadena Strawberry Festival organization and Pasadena ISD will host a number of family friendly celebrations for the holiday season including festive gatherings and charitable efforts.
Can-Do Food Drive
The chamber and the city will conduct the annual Can-Do food drive from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 15 at Pasadena Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2906 Dabney Drive. The drive will collect canned and nonperishable food to fill Pasadena food pantries for the holidays.
Drive workers also will accept donations of school supplies for Pasadena ISD students.

Christmas Tree Lighting
This annual event that officially kicks off the holiday season will from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 30 at old Pasadena City Hall, 1211 Southmore. It’s a free event with an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, vendors, entertainment, outdoor activities and the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree.
Pasadena Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring the event.
Holiday Lighted Parade
The biggest holiday event is Pasadena’s Holiday Lighted Parade sponsored by the city and the Pasadena Strawberry Festival featuring Santa Claus. The parade will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 on Fairmont Parkway beginning at Pansy Street, proceeding to Watters Road, then making a U-turn at Watters and continuing up Fairmont Parkway to Pansy, according to an event fact sheet from the Strawberry Festival’s website.
Before the parade kicks off, parade floats will be judged at 5:30 p.m., with line-up at 4 p.m. at Pansy Street and Keith Avenue. Decorations can be added to vehicles at the line-up.
All entry forms must be returned by Nov. 28 and no entry fee is required. All entries (wagons, trucks, trailers, floats, motorcycles, etc.) must be decorated and lighted. More details and all rules for floats can be found at https://bit.ly/2ACsoBY.
