MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ Philadelphia guard Speedy Claxton sprained his left ankle in the second period of the 76ers' game against Memphis on Saturday night and had to be carried off the court.

Claxton became the latest injured 76er when he collided with Memphis forward Grant Long while going up for a layup. Claxton went down among the cameramen near the basket with 11:44 left in the period, and play was stopped for several minutes while trainers checked him out.

He had to be carried to the locker room. X-rays were negative, but more tests were planned for Sunday.

Claxton has started 10 games for injury-plagued Philadelphia this season, which counts as the rookie year for the 20th overall pick in the 2000 draft. The former Hofstra star missed all of last season after tearing ligaments in his left knee during the preseason.
