South Umpqua loses to Hidden Valley at Evergreen Tournament

MURPHY — The South Umpqua boys basketball team ended the Evergreen Tournament on Saturday with a 72-37 loss to host Hidden Valley.

Joe Blanton scored 16 points for the Class 4A Mustangs (4-3), who led 44-21 at halftime. Jakob Tanner added 14 points.

Azpyn Roberts led the 3A Lancers (0-9) with 15 points, hitting three 3-pointers. Zack Wilson chipped in eight points.

“The kids gave a good effort, considering we were short-handed,” said S.U. coach Brett Nixon. “But it’s still a hard one to swallow.”

South Umpqua will meet Bandon at the Bandon Tournament Thursday.
