Man faces up to 20 years in prison for gun store theft

November 30, 2018

GLENVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — A 24-year-old man has pleaded guilty to stealing dozens of firearms during a break-in at a suburban gun shop in upstate New York.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Thursday that Christian Roman of Schenectady admitted he and an accomplice broke into Target Sports in the Schenectady County town of Glenville the night of Oct. 22, 2017. They made off with pistols, shotguns and rifles and spent the following days transporting and hiding them with the help of various accomplices.

The men eventually transported the stolen firearms to Rochester.

Roman faces up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced April 10. Accomplice Jose Fontanez of Schenectady pleaded guilty earlier this year and will be sentenced on April 22.

Three others have pleaded guilty for their roles in the crime.
