Man convicted of murdering woman in Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A jury has convicted a 40-year-old man of murdering a woman outside a Cordova home in 2015.
The jury on Friday found Anthony Olivo guilty of one count of first-degree murder. Criminal Court Judge Lee Coffee sentenced Olivo to life in prison, with the possibility of parole. He must first serve 51 years.
Co-defendant Andrew Bowen was also convicted Friday of facilitation of first-degree murder for his role in the killing. The 42-year-old Bowen will be sentenced next month. Olivo will also return to court next month to be sentenced for other charges.
McDonald was shot in the face and killed in a friend’s driveway in 2015. McDonald was going to pick up a friend so that they could both volunteer for a race that morning in Memphis’ Overton Park.
