Best Reading is When Medium, Client and Spirit Work Together

January 29, 2019

Dear Bonnie: I would like to go for a reading. I am wondering what makes one reading better than another, and what should I expect during a reading? Do you think life goes on as usual in heaven? -- Brandy

Dear Brandy: As a medium trained by some of the most renowned mediums in the U.S. and the U.K., I was always taught the same method: Give what you get, meaning spit out what comes through because even though it doesn’t mean anything to you, it might mean something to your sitter (the person coming in for the reading).

We try to be as forthright with the information as we can, knowing the message is not for us and trying not to make sense of the information but giving the information as it comes through from our communicator.

At the beginning of the reading, besides saying a prayer, I will tell my client a few pieces of information that might make their reading a little easier. First, I tell everyone to sit with an open mind and heart. Everything is energy, and when the sitter is open to receiving, the energy flows easier. Nerves or someone heavily grieving may block the communication or make the reading a little more difficult.

I also let them know their loved one in heaven can come through looking younger than when they passed. We go back to a time when we felt and looked our best. I tell my clients that when a medium someday sees me, I am going to be in a bikini because I haven’t been able to wear one for a long time. That makes them laugh and opens the communication.

I might see a dad who passed in his 90s coming through looking 18 and in his sailor’s uniform. They usually appear to me knowing this is how you would best recognize them -- sometimes showing me a picture of themselves that you have recently been looking at.

A reading is personal to everyone, and I tell my clients your loved one is not coming to talk to me but to them. The best reading, I believe, is one where the communicator in spirit is familiar with how the process works with me on this side, meaning they blend well with my energy and I can see, hear and feel their presence. As they come close beside me, blending their energy with mine, we become one.

I strive for this every time I give a reading, but it’s not always that easy. Because they have the same personality as they had while on Earth, some communicators are full of fun and some are much more conservative. You know the feeling -- some people are just easier to talk to.

My job is to let your loved one know I am here for them as the middleman, just delivering the message. I have had communicators start to give me advice as well, which I love; it means they are trusting me.

The best reading is when you have felt in your soul that you have talked to someone’s loved one in heaven and it was he or she speaking, and you have just had a conversation with that someone.

I will always remember a post on Facebook that read, “just came from a reading with Bonnie Page and it felt like I had an hourlong visit with my dad.” I was so happy I could give someone this gift.

What comes through for information is very much the communicator’s job of what he or she wants us to say. Some clients come in with one particular event or subject they want their loved one to say, and that can be sad because if they cannot relay that exact information or it is something they do not want to bring up, it can ruin your beautiful message. Sometimes they do understand what is important to you, and they do a smashing job at relaying the info.

I was talking to a client to whom I had given a telephone reading quite a few months prior, and he told me about what he had asked his mom to mention during the reading. He told me the reading was spot on the whole time, and he was grateful that he knew it was his mom, but she had not revealed the one piece of information he had asked her earlier during the day. He told me as I was closing the phone reading, I said: “Wait, your mom wants to tell you she is playing cards in heaven.” There was silence of the other end. He couldn’t speak because that was the piece of information he was waiting for as he had been holding the deck of cards in his hand the whole time. Good job, mom.

If I would have left that little bit of information out, it would have been a good reading but maybe not an amazing reading.

Playing cards in heaven with the family and friends they played with here on Earth shows that life goes on in heaven as on Earth. It’s comforting to know we very much continue to live on the other side. Our souls are eternal and everlasting. They miss us but have a bird’s-eye view as they watch over us, enjoying our lives with us.
