Coming home for a laugh

November 19, 2018

Former Kankakee resident and comedian Diacos Love is back at The Majestic Theatre next weekend for a brand new comedy show.

“Everyone’s been telling me that I should do a full set onstage, so that’s what I’ll be doing this time,” Love said.

His stand-up set will last from 20 to 30 minutes.

“I want to leave time for the headliner so she can do her thing.”

The headliner, Just Nesh, is, in Love’s opinion, the most booked comedian in the city of Chicago. “I think this is the last time that someone will be able to see her in Kankakee,” Love said. “She just filmed a movie with [comedian] Katt Williams. She’s on her way.”

A portion of the show will be taped to be a part of Love’s upcoming comedy special, his first, which will be released online. Every weekend in the month of December, Love is booked at the House of Blues for shows.

The show is called the Black Friday Coming Home Show, which is what Love hopes everyone will be doing.

“I’m coming home, and everyone should be coming home for the holidays,” he said.

With this show, the audience not only can expect laughs, but they can expect a band reunion.

It’s also going to be a reunion show for The Ones Brand, a band originally from Kankakee. Most of the past and present band members will be at the comedy show, except for the bandleader, who was in an accident in which he broke both of his arms.

The show is at 9 p.m. Friday. Doors at the Majestic Theatre, 150 N. Schuyler Ave., Kankakee, open at 8 p.m.

Tickets cost $20 and are available at eventbrite.com, or can be picked up at C&L Fine Goods Boutique, at 155 S. Schuyler Ave., Kankakee.

To get a discounted rate for Saturday’s show, readers of the Daily Journal will have to take a photo of this article and tag @DocLove312 (Instagram) or @DiacosLove (Facebook) to receive the discounted rate of two tickets for $30.
