Alternative Gift Market, Craft and Bake Sale set for Dec. 1

November 20, 2018

POCATELLO - Why not kick off the holidays by making purchases at the Alternative Gift Market scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1 in the gym of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 309 N. Garfield Ave., between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Shoppers at the market are asked to make contributions to charities in the names of friends and family members. With each donation, alternative gift recipients receive a decorative card with information about the work being carried out by the selected non-profit. You can purchase gifts for local, national and international humanitarian projects – which focus on saving and improving lives as well as preserving our planet.

Local service and relief agencies including Aid For Friends, Sister Cities-Africa, Thai Initiative, Bridges and more will be present to accept purchases of alternative gifts. Examples of international projects include fresh water wells in S. Sudan and gardens for food stability in the Phillipines.

An alternative gift market offers a truly unique gift-giving experience for holiday shoppers.

Crafts offered through Sister Cities-Africa and Thai Initiative could round out your Christmas Shopping List. PLUS: Expect a fabulous assortment of bake goods, fair trade coffee and chocolate.

This festive event is sponsored by the Pocatello Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. For more information on Alternative Gift Markets, go to: www.alternativegifts.org
