Jacob Shedlock, the shooting victim, was pronounced dead at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital at 11:20 p.m. Friday, according to Luzerne County Coroner William Lisman.
Wilkes-Barre police responded to a reported shooting at 768 N. Pennsylvania Ave., near Weir Lane and Dukey’s Cafe, shortly before 11 p.m., according to a post at the department’s Facebook page.
Officers found Shedlock suffering from a single gunshot wound to the torso. He was treated at the scene, then taken to the hospital, but he succumbed to his wounds, police said.
An autopsy is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, according to Lisman. City police, state police and Luzerne County detectives responded Friday night. City and county detectives are investigating.
