Loaded gun seized at Baltimore high school, student arrested

January 18, 2018

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore city schools officials say a student has been arrested after an officer seized a loaded gun at a high school.

The Baltimore Sun reports the weapon was confiscated Thursday morning after police at Carver Vocational-Technical High School received an anonymous tip.

Schools spokeswoman Edie House-Foster says the “matter was swiftly under control without incident.”

The student could face expulsion under the district’s Code of Conduct.

According to the newspaper, it’s the second time this school year police have confiscated a loaded gun from a Baltimore city student on school property.

Sgt. Clyde Boatwright is president of the city schools police union. He calls it “a significant crisis” that students are arming themselves before coming to class.
