Mich. Agrees to Deals With Coaches
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) _ New Michigan basketball coach Tommy Amaker signed a five-year deal Monday worth about $3 million, while football coach Lloyd Carr signed a two-year contract extension that ties him to the school through 2008.
Amaker was hired away from Seton Hall in March.
Carr, 65-18 during seven years as Michigan’s head coach, keeps his $1.1 million annual salary. But the fund Carr can use to pay his assistants will increase to $155,000 from $55,000.
Carr led the Wolverines to a share of the 1997 national championship.
