Pittsburgh seeking ‘Snow Angels’ for volunteer program
It may be warmer than normal now, but snow is coming.
Pittsburgh officials are preparing by accepting online applications for snow shovelers to help elderly residents and others with disabilities this winter.
The program, called Snow Angels, is the city’s way to help those in need by matching them with a volunteer to remove snow from sidewalks and driveways. Volunteers and residents in need of help can sign up at the city’s website, call 412-255-4773 or print an application and mail it in.
Last year, 135 Snow Angels volunteers helped 143 residents, according to a news release. This year, the city is having a competition among communities to recruit volunteers for the program.
