Ormsby, Riccelli defend seats representing Spokane’s 3rd Legislative District
Democratic state Reps. Timm Ormsby and Marcus Riccelli have won new terms representing Washington’s 3rd Legislative District, which covers the city of Spokane.
Ormsby garnered more than 62 percent of the vote, according to the ballot count as of Tuesday evening. He has represented the district since 2003 and is chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
His opponent, Republican Dave Lucas, is a Marine Corps veteran who volunteers with several community organizations.
Riccelli had nearly 64 percent of the vote in his race Tuesday evening, the early returns showed. Riccelli, the majority whip, was first elected in 2012.
His opponent, Republican Tom Taylor, is a recent graduate of Washington State University who raised no money for his campaign and did not show up to candidate events.
