Sept. 30, 2018: Lucero May Yet Be Congress Nominee Of Democratic Party
Sept. 30, 1968: A revealing statement on the condition of our times is the fact that “a law and order” has been injected as an issue in both the national and state political campaigns.
Riots and other forms of crime and violence have been a key issue for months at the national level, and now the issue of “law and order” or “justice and order” has become a part of both the Democratic and Republican campaign platforms at the state level.
Sept. 30, 1993: Santa Fe Mayor Sam Pick said he was not discouraged Wednesday after the City Council killed his proposal to study moving City Hall to La Villa Rivera building, which houses La Residencia Nursing Center.
“What I’ll be doing in two weeks is presenting a resolution to move City Hall to the rail yard” west of Guadalupe Street, Pick said.
Pick asked the council to pass a resolution that would have directed city staff to study La Villa Rivera building, 228 E. Palace Ave., as a new location for either City Hall or a new convention center. Pick said cramped conditions at both City Hall and Sweeney Convention Center have warranted larger buildings.
