State police interview man believed to have fired fatal shot
FORT KENT, Maine (AP) — Maine police say the weekend death of a Fort Kent man has been declared a homicide, and that they’ve interviewed the man who fired the fatal shot.
State police say an autopsy determined that 49-year-old Daren Charette died from a single gunshot wound. His body was found Sunday afternoon in his apartment.
Fort Kent Police discovered the body while responding to a 911 call Sunday afternoon.
State police said Monday that there’s no threat to the public, and that the other person involved in the shooting is cooperating with investigators.
State police detectives are working with the attorney general’s office, which will eventually decide whether charges are warranted.
