Body of Overdose Victim Found in Lowell
LOWELL -- The death of a person found next to trash containers in the city’s Acre neighborhood Tuesday was caused by an overdose, authorities say.
The initial report of the body’s discovery near St. Patrick’s Church came over the emergency radio broadcast shortly before 5 p.m. Narcan -- an antidote to opioid overdoses -- was mentioned during the broadcast.
The body remained underneath a white sheet near apartments located off Fenwick Terrace in the North Common Village housing complex shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Police tape encircled the scene, as an officer stood nearby awaiting a medical examiner’s arrival.
Aside from confirming the cause of the person’s death as an overdose, Lowell police Capt. James Hodgdon stated there would be no further information provided to the media about the discovery.
